Man, this was a fun trip down memory lane. I remember sneaking into The Matrix with my best friend (we were not old enough to buy a ticket) what a massive cultural event.

Alas, I was too young to see the first in theaters. At least I got to see the Dolby Cinema re-release not too long ago!

I'm probably just a little older than you guys then since I did see the original Matrix in the theater, it was right after my freshman year of college. Not to sound like an angry boomer, but seeing a movie like that not knowing anything about it other than seeing the trailer and a maybe reading a review in my local paper made it better. It was more mind blowing when you saw it. I did go see it in the theater last fall as well, it's one of those movies that's way better on the big screen and it still holds up. Both the effects and the movie itself.

Also, I remember seeing Reloaded on IMAX. That's the only way to watch the freeway chase.

Tangential story-

I had an acting studio with one of Keanu’s acting coaches from back in the day. In “Speed” she was the Asian lady sitting behind him in the bus. They put her there so she could go over scenes with Keanu in between takes. She said Keanu was hands down the nicest and most wonderful person she had met. She said everyone loved Keanu, even directors that didn’t think he was a great actor came away from meetings with him just wanting to hang out more.

Keanu was also a very hard worker and I think got better at the acting part of the job over time. She used it as a lesson about why we should be kind and hard workers, as that will get you far.
